Antique galvanized baby bathtub and ship origamis
70 x 35 x 50 cm

The installation is inspired by Samuel Taylor Coleridge's unfinished poem he wrote in 1797, inspired by a dream he saw under influence of opium, about the summer palace of the Mongol Emperor Kublai Khan, Xanadu, the center of beauty and pleasure. The ship origamis exhibited in an antique galvanized baby bathtub were created using the pages of the Mandrake the Magician comic book published by Tay Yayınları in Turkey between 1975 and 1985. The main protagonist of the comics, Mandrake, lives in a high-tech mansion called Xanadu.
